Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology strengthen cooperation with Angola

The minister of Geology and Mining of Angola, Francisco Queiroz, said in Luanda that Russia wants to install assembly lines in Angola for vehicles and light and heavy machinery, for different sectors and to increase investments in the areas of fisheries, manufacturing, energy and geology and mining, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

The minister was speaking at the end of the fourth session of the Angola-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, after signing a protocol for strengthening economic, technical-scientific and trade between the two countries.

Sergei Donskoi, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, said in turn that his country intends to cooperate with Angola in the fields of renewable energy, to build a solar power plant and develop other projects in this sector.

Minister Sergei Donskoi also said that as Angola is one of Russia’s strategic partners in Africa and pointed out that there are Russian companies that want to enter the Angolan market to build railway trucks, to produce materials for the aviation sector and cooperate in the fisheries and agriculture sector.

Trade between Angola and Russia in 2015 reached US$244 million.
