President of Russia Vladimir Putin meets with Li Zhanshu

On April 26, 2017 local time, President Vladimir Putin met at the Kremlin in Moscow with member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Li Zhanshu.

Vladimir Putin asked Li Zhanshu to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping, and expressed that at present, Russia and China have maintained close high-level exchanges, and bilateral institutionalized exchanges in various fields have been steadily advanced and cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and regional affairs has been increasingly deepened. Bilateral communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs have achieved fruitful outcomes. The development of bilateral relations as well as mutual trust and bilateral cooperation are at historical highs, which the Russian side is gratified with. Russia actively responses to China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, and he is looking forward to going to China this May for the attendance at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) and meeting with President Xi Jinping.

Li Zhanshu conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings and best wishes to President Vladimir Putin. Li Zhanshu stressed that China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination is in the best period of history and can be regarded as a model of the new type of international relations with win-win cooperation as the core. China-Russia relations are mature, stable and maintaining a high-level development. No matter how the international situation changes, what will remain unchanged between both sides are the insistence on the policy of consolidating and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, the dedication in achieving the goal of common development and revitalization, and the determination to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice and world peace and stability. President Xi Jinping expects Mr. President to attend the BRF in China this May.

Li Zhanshu pointed out that the cooperation mechanism between the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Presidential Executive Office of Russia is unique in respective external exchanges of the two countries, which embodies the high level and particularity of bilateral relations. China stands ready to, together with Russia, jointly propel the in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two offices, in a bid to better serve the diplomatic activities between the two heads of state and the overall development situation of bilateral relations. Both sides should continuously support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, further deepen cooperation in various fields on the existing basis, well implement relevant major strategic projects, and constantly push forward bilateral practical cooperation for all-round, extensive and in-depth development.

On the same day, Li Zhanshu held talks with Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vaino Anton of Russia, and met with Special Representative of the Russian President for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov, conducting in-depth communication on strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and exchanging views on international and regional issues of common concern.
